The 3D visual effects and the friendly Gobsies can help improving your Gobs Level and bringing lasting enjoyment.

Inspired by the oriental Go game, the Breathing Slabs game includes the intelligent Gobsies that you can play against without the need of Internet connection. The choice of board size from 1x1 to 20x20 and the 3D animations means that it can be fun to play the Breathing Slabs game on your iPhone or iPad.

The game is intuitively designed so that no previous knowledge and instructions are required to get started. You’ll soon find that you can spend as little or as much time playing with a Gobsy, watching two Gobsies playing with each other, or you can play the game with someone else.

When you start the game, it shows the game board with 4 buttons:
V - for toggling between locked straight view and free view. In free view mode, you can use one finger to rotate the view and two fingers to zoom, pan and twist.
I - for showing the scores for board sizes between 6 and 20.
S - for changing board size.
G - for starting a game, you can choose to watch the Gobsy Game Show, to play a game with a Gobsy, or to play a two player game. you can tap on either of the black or white slabs to swap them across. When the board size is greater than 6, you will find the ‘Zoom to size’ controls. If you set the ‘Zoom to size’ smaller than the board size, automatic zooming in will be activated when playing a game. A game will start when you tap on ‘Game on’.

At the start of a game, when the ‘Handicap’ bar is shown, you can press on it to speed it up or abandon the game. When the game is in progress, you need to tap on one of the empty squares on the board to lay a slab on it. Pressing the ‘E’ button will show a panel with three buttons: ‘Finish’, ‘Pass’ or ‘Abandon the game’. ‘Pass’ means you choose to skip a move. If the ‘Finish’ button has been pressed, your moves will be randomly played by Gobsy E1. ‘F’ button indicating the ‘Finish’ process. You can press on ‘F’ to speed the process up or abandon the game.

At the end of the game, the black and the white’s numbers of squares are displayed. The one who takes more squares wins. When the result is showing, pressing ‘E’ leads to a panel showing your score if you played with a Gobsy. Press on ‘Next Game’ to finish the current game and prepare for the next game.

In ‘Gobsy Game Show’ mode, you can press ’Start now’ to start the game show earlier, or press ‘Cancel’ to stop the game show.

For Gobsies, there are 8 Gobs Levels from E1 to E6 and then A1 and A2 that you can play against. However, due to the use of handicaps, your Gobs Level can be higher than A2, through to A6, D1, D2, etc. Pressing the ‘I’ button when no game is in play will show your scores and your Gobs Levels for the board sizes that you have played.

The game is suitable for all ages, and the knowledge gained can last for a life time.
